Default "Check Oil Level" on dash every time on start up

So I work from home now and the H2 has been sitting a lot. I got the oil changed, and it had become gunked up to where they had to pull some of it out with a coat hanger. I didn't think I was letting it sit THAT much (I change the oil max at 6 months). Anyways, there's been a "check oil level" warning on the dash that never goes away. I checked the oil level and it's fine, and it's been replaced with new oil. I pulled the battery and the warning went away, but came back after about a week, so I'm assuming that means the problem still exists. Is there some sort of sensor that could've got gunked up? Or is there a bigger problem? The H2 drives perfectly. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

H2s have the Oil Level Sensor. When they get crud built up, or just get old, they can cause false warnings. #427 below, PN 19112977, they are about $21 at RockAuto

Might want to check the connector and wires to it, hit the connector and sensor with CRC Electronics Cleaner first?

It's $22 and some odd change for an AC Delco one on Amazon. That's what I used on mine.Heres the link: Amazon

I would just put it off to your next oil change, it literally takes 2 minutes to change it out. Threads are plastic so don't go crazy torquing it down.

Most of the GMS, like our 2014 Escalade, have a blank spot not drilled on the oil pan. They don't bother with the sensor. I guess that thing called the dipstick has been determined to be more reliable, LOL

If your oil was that bad, an engine flush is a good idea. BG products, Rislone both make good products to clean the insides.

Be very careful with engine flushes especially in engines with very high miiles and where oil flaking is evident. I have seen people use this stuff just to have the material that gets loosened up get into the oil pan and block the pickup and then trash the engine from lack of oil pressure. Also, there is a small screen under the oil pressure sending unit that can get plugged up resulting in low oil pressure readings when every thing is just fine.

Prior to using an engine flush, I would drop the pan and clean it really good. Any sludge will be in the very bottom. Good time to replace the o-ring on the pickup tube at the same time. If I remember correctly the screen underneath the oil pressure sending unit is on the models that have dod/afm.

Not sure what year yours is, but unlike Doc's, my 03 OLS is on the right side of the oil pan (#727). Same part tho...

I think doc might have been trying to pull a fast one to see if we're paying attention, LOL.

His diagram looks like a small block Chevy....
