Default Battery time.... After 7 months!

I will never buy another Optima battery. 7 months old and it was only holding 11.7 volts. Key on with engine off, it started throwing all kinds of codes. Checked the battery right away.... I'm thinking it developed a short in a cell.

Took it back to Advance Auto Parts.... Signs plastering the windows that they are having a going out of business sale. So I got lucky the battery didn't last another month. As they had nothing in stock, they refunded my full purchase price. That surprised me.

Picked up a Group 79 at O'Reilly's Auto parts, 860 CCA, $199. Didn't have anything bigger that would fit, but I suppose that's adequate for an LQ4 engine. Starts perfect, and back to no codes.

At least it has a better warranty than the Optima, which was $259.

I installed an Optima battery 13yrs ago in my 3 then it froze solid during the first winter after install with 0 cranking amps. The Optima went to the curb, since been using EastPenn without a problem!

East Penn/Deka are really good. Group 79 in mine works perfect.

Now that's what I'm talking about! I'm assuming you bought an aftermarket battery tray and bolted it in? At least that's what I was planning. What group number is that battery?

thats the battery.
and i just used an off the shelf hold down from autozone top bar with 2 "J bolts".
i had to move the engine ground up one hole on the block to get the reach to the top. there is a free threaded bolt hole closer to the manifold below the temp sensor area. almost in line with the original location.
the factory terminals fit the 3/8 studs.
clearance to the hood rubs a bit but just rubs barely a blonds hair as a cant say ****s
the reason for using this battery was my old ACdelco finally was on its way out and i was gifted this brand new commercial truck battery. they use them in parallel / series (depending if 12v or 24v systems) on internationals and mac trucks well maybe even more trucks. but there fleet consists of those.
