Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Thanks OB,
Got my Tech 2 out and went right to what you displayed. I did find the Suspension area...thanks. It's not hooked to the 2 but just sitting next to me at the puter. Went looking for the radio but it's not connected to the H2. I saw a video a while back where someone unlocked a radio in an H2. Don't remember what year. I know some of the other big buck scanners can do that. There are a few videos on youtube showing a mechanic with a Tech 2 unlocking a radio but I think he was connected thru the GM Tech 2 site and was a Paid member.

Search Youtube for unlocking GM Radios...

@Mark R
From "F1: Body" you get

Then asks for Vehicle Identification:-

If you have no OnStar you'll get the warning:

From there you can access the Radio sub menu and I believe in there will be the option to program or re-program a GM stock radio and possibly a Nav Unit

Since I have no radio I haven't explored further, however as I mentioned I did re-program a H3 to accept a replacement Radio and I'm fairly sure this ties in the VIN number to a little eeprom device inside the radio. Whether or not the eeprom can simply be cleared and leave the radio functioning I can't say, possibly not, no on-line link was needed.

Thank OB,
I have seen Videos where they go in and remove the little 8 legger IC that stores the VIN and gives authorization to unlock the radio. Also have seen them clip on a IC Pin clip and reprogram the chip. I have a NAV Radio here that is unlocked and will fit into a Hummer H2 but it is not programed for the LUX suv with Dual Stereo Amps with Surround sound. I Think it's from a standard Tahoe or GMC. Not sure.

I also have my original 2009 NAV radio (Surround Sound) designed to run the lux system. But it started acting funny and would do the black screen thing on and off. Alos the NVA would be off by about 50 feet. That one I don't understand. NOTE* This all started when the battery was changed at Advance Auto. I think He sparked the connection when hooking up the backup battery)

I sent it out to a company called ( Infotainmet) as they specialize in These NAV Radios and can fire them up on the bench. They called me back and told me the radio is fine as it fires up every time and the NAV is working. So I get it back and it fires right up then a few days latter...Back to black screen. Then some days it comes on.....some days not. And the NAV is off..

So I use my theory.....Throw money at the problem! I buy a New NAV Radio... ( Great Price) Go to the Dealer.. And they go on line with GM Tech... and hook up to my Diagnostic Terminal... and program the radio for Surround for 2009 LUX. BAM... Working ever since. So now I have these two NAV Radios in shipping boxes sitting in my HUMMER Spare Parts storage area...( My Spare Bedroom...L.O.L.. Anyone interested???

Mark, what did the new nav radio set you back and where did you manage to find a factory NAV disk for it? My 08 was missing its factory NAV radio when I bought it, someone replaced it with a high end aftermarket radio. I did manage to find a supposed factory radio on fleabay but it vin locked. So far I have had no luck unlocking it with the tech-2, someone told me I need to use and MDI to do it. Once I get the factory system working I plan on putting that in.

I bought it from My Dealer who was a HUMMER Dealer ever since they started selling them. He had the funny curved roof HUMMER building that GM made all dealers put up. So I'm a long term customer even after the HUMMER franchise has ended. He still a GM and Foreign car dealership. Any way ..the list price on the NAV was somewhere around $2200.00. I paid about $900.00 bucks for it plus it's computer brain was totally empty. I then had to pay $150.00 to have it programed to my SUV LUX.

The tech went on line thru the GM dealer website and researched my rig to make sure he had the set up for the dual amp Surround Sound. It has an extra screen that lets your fade front to rear and left to right and says ... Stereo... and Surround on that same screen with touch controls to move the audio around. So you have to be careful when selecting the correct radio to download the programing for. It was done by VIN # and double checked to make sure it had the surround settings in the screen.

As far as the NAV disc goes, it was the one from the 2009 I have here which was the last release. I forget the number. That one is now in my rig with the new radio.
I don't know if you can copy them or not. But if you can I could run you a copy or give you the release before that one if I can find it. I put it somewhere.

I still have the original NAV radio but have no way of powering it up without the schematics to show me +12 Volt and ground inputs. I have a Tech bench here with lots of electronic equipment so I could power it up. I don't think I left the old NAV disc in there.

There are all different Part # for these radios If the one you have wasn't programed for dual Amps Surround Sound then you'll be stuck with Stereo. Your option would be to go to a GM dealer and have them unlock it then download the correct setting for your rig.

My GM Tech 2 will not do Unlock either. But as stated.... Some of the hi end Scanners will. There are a bunch on youtube showing guys unlocking radios.

But Again, If you take it to your dealer... they can go on the GM website which has a section for Radios. They can erase and down load the correct Info for your rig. As far as the NAV disc goes... You might be able to find that on line somewhere. Someone must have a copy to sell. I would pay the money and just have it reprogramed if it is the correct radio that you have for your rig. The dealer can make sure by part number on the radio that it is the one for your SUT.

I think the Tech2 might actually unlock and reprogram stereos it if in SPS programming mode and connected to TIS2000 running on a computer or connected online with an SPS2 subscription.

That was shown I think on youtube. The guy had his Tech 2 connected and on line with his subscription and went thru the operation on the laptop. He did unlock the radio in question. But the radio for the 08 09 H2 SUV LUX is designed to run two stereo amps in surround or stereo mode I think the one he did was just a stereo Radio with Multi speaker outputs... Bass Mid and Hi .

Here's what my screen looks like for the LUX 08 09.

Nice Mark, your making me jealous, you've got the best toys! Sometimes you just can't beat Genuine GM factory equipment the Alpine W957HD has just about every feature you could want but in all honesty I would rather have a Genuine GM Nav back like it had when it rolled down the assembly line. Hopefully in the near future I can pull it out and put another factory unit back in place.

I do have a Delco/Denso one in my parts shelf that is supposed to be compatible but its currently VIN locked. I have been having problems with either the Alpine, interface or an amp going bad. There is a bunch of interfaces boxes back there that make all the factory functions work. When it fails all sound goes away, and if I cycle the ignition bingo, it comes back on. Could be the radio, interfaces or even the amp. Won't know until I start digging into it. At the same time I might have to do what Mixman suggested break out the Tech2, fire up the old laptop and grab a SPS2 subscription for $45 and see if I can unlock the beast. My luck is the factory unit I have won't be compatible with the H2.

In all honesty I dread pulling the stereo's out of the 08/9, first the possibility of breaking the center A/C vents and how the wiring is just so tight in that area. I guess I will wait until it craps out completely, then deal with getting a factory radio back in place, unlocking or just buying another unit. While I am in the disassembly mode replacing the ignition/wheel lock at the same time.
