Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Add a Supercharger at 120k, bad idea?

you keep rebuilding with stock parts of coarse you will have the same problem x3! My stuff will hold with 700hp. Wasn’t cheap but rebuild x3 isn’t either! Do it once and do it right and always over build!

The knock sensors are located on each side of the block external between the motor mount and the rear of the block (1 on each side)

Thanks. So it's not something I'm going to tackle now.

so they relocated the knock sensors from the original locations in the valley pan? do you have to plug off the old holes?

I'm assuming your talking about the location in the valley area?

There are no provisions for the sensors in that area on the 6.2L/L92

The op is working on an 08 H2,

MAHLE MS 19598 gasket fits the super charger. It was a tight fit and took some coaxing w/ a rubber mallet:

You can see the difference in the shape of the ports.

At first glance the SC ports looked like they were for the earlier cathedral port LS blocks like the 03-07 H2's.

I assume they shaped them that way intentionally for better laminar airflow. Looking forward to hearing what your thoughts are once you have it installed and tuned.

Maybe they didn't want to redesign it.

Finished the install last night. It took 3 of us about 15hrs. The instructions are not exact and we had some fitment issues that we needed to overcome. Here are some images during the process.
I replaced the valley cover gasket and o-rings. Get the felpro kit that includes the o-rings.

I also replaced the the oil sending unit which was a good idea b/c the super charger sits right up against it so it'll probably take removing the supercharger to get that thing out in the future.

Here's towards the end of the install

The car is driveable but I have not done my towing test. Unfortunately I don't notice much of any performance gains. I have an email to magnuson about this (they are not very responsive to emails which is a bummer). I'm hoping it's the tune they sent that can be adjusted for some noticeable performance.

[ '08 6.2L L92 w/ 6L80]
Did my towing test this morning and I'm pleased with the results.

Here is my experience before the supercharger install:

My test involves climbing about 4000' in elevation over 65 miles towing a 5000lbs travel trailer. There are several steep and long hills that I'd have to downshift into 3rd gear and run about 3500rpms at 45 mph. I never liked having to do that. There were also several spots that the coolant temp would climb to 230 and I'd have to back off until it cooled down b/c it would continue getting hotter if I didn't. On some of the less steep climbs we'd struggle to maintain 60 and would have to bounce between 4th and 5th gear constantly.

Same run after the supercharger install:

It turns out the supercharger kicks in around 2500 rpms which was ideal for this test. The highlights were I never had to hit 3rd gear and never ran less than 60mph. There was a lot less shifting going on and to my surprise the coolant temp never moved. It stayed under 208 the whole trip. I was initially concerned about this b/c the supercharger's cooler sits on the grill supports right in front of everything. I was concerned it was blocking air flow. Keep in mind both of these tests were run at 45 degrees. This is Arizona, we do that same trip when it's 105, hopefully the H2 will stay cool. The only downfall is the MPG dropped from 7.2MPG to 5.6MPG. The MPG is reset at the bottom of the hill and recorded at the top. I expected this though i.e. more air more fuel. So essentially the supercharge helps me get to the gas station quicker at the top of the hill

The reason I don't notice much performance gains during normal driving is b/c the 6.2/6l80 is almost never at 2500rmps or above around town. I'm not sure if there is an adjustment to the bypass valve to have the supercharger kick in sooner or if the tune isn't accounting for my 315 tires and 4.56 gears.

There might be more tweaking of the supercharger. If you're not towing and only drive your h2 around town I wouldn't recommend this supercharger as you'd be in bypass mode 90% of the time. This is my experience w/ a 6.2L, maybe the 6.0/4l80 is different.
