Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

Add a Supercharger at 120k, bad idea?

Agreed, great info! A couple of things that would help further. Full long tube headers for one. Then find a shop with a AWD/4WD dyno and let them custom tune the PCM. I'd find some reviews to be sure their tuner knows what he/she is doing of course and explain your goals to them as well. They might even reccomend a different pulley on the SC as well. Either way they will be able to tweak the shift points as well as optimise the tune much better for YOUR specific setup.

At this point I'm going to leave well-enough alone; there's a coolant leak I'm trying to sort out. The rear coolant hose doesn't have a very tight fit and a spring or screw clamp doesn't seem to help. It doesn't leak when the pump is running it only leaks after you turn the car off. This is just 1 of the several things about this kit that is just a little off. I'm going to pull the hose again, wrap the male piece w/ some electrical tape to build it up and make for a tighter fit.

A small update. Did another test run, this time w/ another 700lbs in the car and probable a few hundred more in the travel trailer. The H2 did just as well, enough power to stay out of 3rd gear and 60mph up the steepest hills. The MPG is way down but I expected that.

Also, I hooked a camera under the hood to watch when the supercharger opens/closes the bypass while driving around town (not towing). This helped me understand how to get boost to come on under 2500rpms and w/o putting my foot to the floor. Sort of hard to explain w/o driving it, but it's nice to be able to experience the boost when needed.

The coolant leak seems to have stopped after this last trip. Maybe it just needed some heat to let the hose seat properly.... I'll continue to update this thread. But so far, I'm happy with the results for the money spent. Just wish the kit was a little more refined for the amount of time it has been on the market.

Nice. Just make sure to monitor the transmission fluid.

You're going to need a tune to get the most out of it. If you used their canned tune, its pretty much junk. Take it to someone local and let them do their magic.

I change it annually and check it regularly since this is our tow vehicle. I'll be changing the coolant and other fluids as well.

I'm sure you're right. As of now I'm happy w/ the mild gains around town and superior towing capability. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on the tranny for the time being. But it's good to know there's more performance to be had.

Are you running an EGT Gauge? also wondering gear related to your 4.56's what your normal driving and not towing RPM is at say 75 MPH

I thought I had a post about the 4.56's, but can't find it. I'm at 2000rpm's at 70mph so just a little over at 75. I think this is pretty ideal on the freeway for this refrigerator shaped vehicle. Prior to the gears I'd almost never be in 6th gear unless I was going down hill.

As for EGT. I thought about adding a probe and I did this when we had a 7.3 diesel Excursion. It turned out to be valuable w/ the turbo diesel, but I read a supercharged gaser it's not as much of a concern. But if you know of an easy approach to get the temps I'd be interesting and trying it.
