Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
On Monday my wife sideswiped a tree in our driveway while backing out. Damage to running board, right doors / mirror.
At the repair shop getting an estimate they noticed the boot that attached to the wheel assembly on the right front is leaking oil/grease. The car was otherwise drive-able until body repairs can be done next month, but I'm concerned this might be a safety issue.
I now notice the RF tire has brown tree bark marks on it from where it hit the tree. Also at low speed I feel/hear a hum/vibration/rub from the right front, then it goes away quickly.
What is this leaking oil/grease from and how much do you think it would cost to fix? Trying to figure out if it is fixable so we can drive it until body repairs are made. Thanks in advance for your input.
That’s your cv axle. Easy enough fix. Usually you replace the axle when the boot rips because of dirt getting in and ruining it. Especially if it’s making noise. It could also be your wheel bearing going out making that noise. It’s pretty common.
rockauto has gm genuine cv axles for $160 each and AcDelco ones for $450. I thought gm genuine and AcDelco would be the same part but idk maybe someone else can chime in.
