XM about to run out...
I agree with everyone especially Fireman because I love the 80's rock. However, I hate FM radio and can't find any channel worth listening too. Also, they have so many commercials now it just drives me nuts. So, XM will stay but I wish I had the option of XM or SIRIUS when I bought the thing. I miss Stern and I hear they have a better line up.
I activated one of the new portable XM radios a few months ago and "questioned" why I had to pay an activation fee. The Rep. on the phone waived the fee after I bitched for only a few seconds.
Anyway, if you're doing a new activation, don't do it online. Call them, complain about the fee, and they will probably waive it too.

I let my subscription run out about 3 months ago. I kept getting lower offers in the mail. Yesterday I renewed my subsription for one year for $77. The offers came in the mail. I couldn't turn down $77. That is total price, my state does not charge any taxes and they did not charge a reactivation fee. Let me know if anybody has paid less than that for one year.
it's great for trips, especially, as dennis mentioned, when you're in the boonies. i never had to search while driving to vegas, vegas to utah, and back home. parts of the nevada desert are radio free, and with only 40 cd's in the truck, they'd run out quickly. channels 40, 46 and 49 are about the only ones i listen to, but i can also listen to it online while i'm working. i hate commercial radio, especially in the mornings when everyone is talking, it's impossible to find music. i've never had sirius, so i don't know the difference between the 2, but to me any satellite radio option is better than commercial radio.
I'm still taking in you trading your TL for a H3. That's going from one extreme to another. I love the TL. What made you want to go from a fast high-performance sports sedan to a ruggid off-road slow beast like our H3?
We have Sirius as well and like it better than XM. Like Shortbus said you need something in the boonies of Nevada. We bought Sirius for our trips down Baja. 24 hours of driving time from San Diego to Cabo....you need something to listen to.
Cheapest way to get it is to find and family member or friend that aready has XM and add it to their account. It is like $6 a month that way.

I let mine drop and have an XM MyFi with an external marine antenna on the ride. I use it in the house also. It transmits to the vehicle radio on FM. The marine antenna boosted reception over the small mag one supplied. It helps in the mountains,

plus it was my first car in about 7 years....dont care how slow the h3 is !
Let mine run out about a month and a half ago. Just got a letter to sign back up for $77 and no activation fee for a year. Seems like a good deal to me and I hate to have a option I can't use.
