Wish me luck
Going to the Dealer Saturday to get a front end clunk diagnosed and hopefully fixed. It is an 08 Lux 16K miles. I have read all the posts from this and other forums and the clunk has been caused by everything from differential bushings, body mounts, skid plates and just about everything else on the truck. I hope I can get it to do it on demand. Wish me luck.
Well, I will give them an A for effort. It only does it intermittently in a fairly sharp turn at 10-15 MPH. Put it on the rack and checked all the bushings, body mounts, ball joints etc. and everything seemed tight. With the Hummer Service Manager, the Chevrolet Service Manager, the Mechanic and myself on about a 40 minute test drive we were were able to reproduce the clunk/pop. Their conclusion is it is the bump stops hitting the A arms. I'm not so sure...... If it is something else such as a bushing, steering rack, intermediate steering shaft or a body mount it will likely get worse thus easier to find next time. I was pleased with the time they spent and at least I got it in the system as a possible problem. They have been excellent in the past so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. I will keep you posted if there is any change.
