Default Wipers Freeze during snow and lift ??

My new H3 handles great in the snow BUT... 15 degs while driving in heavy snowfall max heat and fan on Defrost right side of driver wiper collected ice /snow to the point it lifted so would clear the windshield. Had to stop every mile to clean the blade. When parked it was fine and would melt the ice on the windshield guess while moving the windchill was to much .

Any recommendations on a better windshield wiper to use ? Rear was fine.

Rain -X Latitude ??

I also noticed the wipers would stay on with no key .....is that the norm ?

Thanks
Jaws

Make sure the wipers are correct size/length.
16" & 17"
I use so many different styles and types throughout the year and have found it more important to have new wipers more so than anything else.
A low grade wipers is never a winner either.

You can use both @ 17" without any issues. I have been using 17" on both sides on 6 different H3/H3Ts.

Anyway, never had any wiper lifting issues. Is the wiper "lifting" due to ice/snow buildup in the wiper arm well on the cowl?

To follow up on Tainter's question if your answer is a yes.

Clean off the hood and windshield before you drive, helps keep the wiper arm wells from freezing full of snow.

Hood and cowl were as clean as I could get while snowing. The TIP of the driver side wiper toward center of vehicle just past the defroster reach is where on the blade the ice would start to build up and eventually raise the blade, no allowing full length contact. not the cowl build up but the blade itself. I never seen anything like it before so I thought I would post. I think a combination of 15* and windchill........ heat defrost turned it to liquid fast then windchill would snap freeze. didn't matter on full speed or delay . Windshield washer fluid didn't help either

Thanks for all inputs and keep them coming

You need good winter blades, like Bosch Icons or the Rain-X you mentioned.

BTW, where are you located?

Not just good quality blades..........but arms with proper tension as well. Sometimes the springs fail to apply sufficient contact pressure.

I had that happen last year around Xmas, trip coming down from Big Bear CA during a heavy snowstorm. Bad enough weather to pull over and put chains on. Had to stop every couple of miles and clean the wiper blades off. It may be the steep rake of the windshield that contributes to it, along with slow driving speeds and just the right conditions of cold and wet snow?
