Default Windows ,wipers freeze

i took advice here and usually swing out my wipers when theres lots of snow, but the melting, freezing junk in the cute little wells freezes and the arms make one swipe, crunch it and stick. they stayed until morn when i dumped hot water in to thaw. i guess something shut down or i figured a breaker would be cliking all nite. so its a new place to watch for trouble.

the windows froze last yr in my first h3 so this is common to h3. when i get melt/freeze snow at 20 and below, all my windows freeze up. its the bottom strip that rubs so close and i hate to start spraying junk on it,everything seems to get messy. silicon didnt seem to work last yr. any decent fixes?

I don't think I'd want to dump hot water on my frozen glass. You've probably been lucky so far, but one of these times....CRRRAAAACKK!!

Windows on every vehicle I have ever owned will freeze closed with the conditions you described not just an H3?

The window heaters/defrosters are located above the dash vents on the driver and passenger side. Might want to point the dash vents toward the windows and let it do it's magic.

I second the "be careful with the hot water on the windshield."

Being born and raised in Chicago, frozen windows are common for everything. I just don't worry about as it's cold and I don't open them. lol

I've found that the spray cans of de-icer work pretty well. A shot along the weather strip in question, and you should be good to go.

At least one high-end car that I know of used to run engine coolant under the wiper parking area of the front windshield to eliminate icing.

Maybe a similar system can be put together for H3 with just tee fittings, small diameter heater hose, auxiliary coolant pump, and 32 degree activated 12v relay? Since the hose would be run under the cabin air intake and wouldn't touch the windshield, there wouldn't even be a need to add an expensive temperature control valve!

(That same car also routed heated air from the HVAC system into the front doors to de-ice the side windows and warm up the interior door panels for added comfort.)

Default ice

buy the de-icer you put in your windshield washer tank... or start your car up and let it run for a while before leaving.... it will make you appreciate the heated seats with that leather!
