Winter Tires for H2?/ T/C disable?
I have an 03 H2 with BFG AT's. They don't do so well in heavy snow conditions.
2 winters in a row coming into my driveway after a heavy (8-14") snow, I've done a 180 half way up when the compacted snow under the tire sheared. The AT's just don't seem to have a big enough lug for deep snow.
My driveway is paved and steep uphill going in. Boulders and up hill on right, boulders and down slope w/ trees on the left. With T/C Just can't get enough wheel spin to clear the treads, in either mode. The only time I had real wheel spin was a result of barreling up the drive as fast as I make the turn off the street and two-footing the pedals. Got near the top of the first section where I need to turn toward the house (even steeper) and I started throwing snow like crazy!. When I parked, I noticed 2 amber warning lights on the dash (ABS and T/C both with lines through them) guess they went off-line. I don't have any problem with ABS, it has saved my a$$ more than once in bad conditions. But is there a way to disable T/C with with-out pulling fuses ect.? If so then I could keep my AT's
But if not.....What would be a well mannered/safe tire for the winter in heavy snow on asfault?
