Wife naggin me about new SUV...need options
Ok, I bought the GMC Acadia this weekend.Took all damn day saturday to work out the final numbers and get the papers signed. We couldn't work the deal on Friday because they did not get the car until 5:00 and no way was I going to spend my Friday night at the dealership. So hear is how it went down. Even though we discussed the price over the phone, he saidthat was beforethey got the car and realized the MSRP was higher on the car they picked up from another dealer. I had nothing signed with them about the number,so much for that and trying to negotiate a price over the phone, lesson learned.
Negotiated price of new car, dealer would not budge off of MSRP 46k, popular car, blah blah blah, so I packed up the wife and kids and started to leave. He grabbed me and said hold on, lets see what we can do. After more hair pulling, he finally gotcloser to my numbers 43K, but not quite there. Now the trade in. First offer from Dealer 3k, I almost threw up. I showed him my offer from the used car dealer and he laughed and said good luck getting them to honor 7K. Here is where the fun begins. Did I mention my wife owes 9k on her 02 expedition.[:@] He came back with a buyers order with the trade factored infor around52K, again almost threw up. He said he was tight on the numbers and could not move.I pulled out the check book and wrote a check for 48k put it on top of the buyers order and said take it or leave it. I am done with this deal. He said give me a minute, he came back with a new buyers order for 48k, I gues he was not that tight. Funny how that works out some times. So after 5 hours of haggling, paper work and learning all of the features of the car, hereare the final rough numbers:
GMC Acadia SLT2 42,500
TTL 2,750
Trade in 6,250
Trade payoff 9,000
Total 48,000
He also threw in 3 years of free oil changes and basic maintenance package, tire rotate and balance, etc... So all in all i was happy. To bad itwas such a pissing contest up front.I hate buying cars, next time I think I am going to use a new car broker, tell him what I want and how much I am willing to pay and pay him a fee to do all this crap for me. I get no satisfaction out of beating my head agaist a wall. [sm=headbang.gif]
I'll get some pics up soon.
