Default What type of subwoofer enclosure does anyone recomend in the H3

I have 1000 watt mono rockford amp pushing two 12 Alpine type R
They are connected in Series.
I dont think they are in the right box. When i had this setup in my honda the soundsystem sounded ridiculous, but now since its in the H3 with open trunk spaceit doesnt sound that loud.

What kind of Box does anyone recomend for Suv's ?
Bandpass
Closed port or open Port

My box allows me to close and open ports it sounds a little louder when ports are open but still not enough knock.

I appriciate any opinions..

Looks like it's raining pretty good out there...
That looks great with the plexiglas cover, last pic I saw was just your amp & caps without the plexi cover or sub in the picture! Now you need to find someone to engrave a hummer logo on the plexi!! But that looks great!
Nice job [sm=smiley20.gif]

Alpine SWR-1241D i am using a rockford 1000db

i have the connection bridged from amp and subs are in series

I think you have way too much power for those subs!!
They can not handle 1000 watts.
They may peek out at 1000w butrealistically handle best between 500 - 750 watts & peek
is at 1000watts. Try turning your gains 1/2 way down. You may want to go to a smaller amp.

If your running a 1000 watt amp you should be using Alpine SWX-1243D "X" series. They handle 1000w & up to 3Kw peek.

Also you may want to try the JL Audio W7's. These will handle 1000watts all day long.

[:'(] If you are running your subs in series, and they are 4 ohm, that means your amp is seeing 8 ohms at mono. So whatever it's rated for bridged, you are only getting 1/2 of that amount out of it. You might be better advised to either a: run the subwoofer amp in stereo so each channel is at 4 ohms, or b: see if that amplifier is rated to run at 2 ohms bridged. If it is, then instead of your subs being in series, run them parallel. My bet is that amp would literally increase output 4x with that setup-I just don't know whether the manufacturer recommends it.

On a side note-you COULD just try it parallel anyway...at your own risk (not mine). Most amplifiers have circuitry built in that will shut the amp off if it's going to get damaged anyway. An example-years ago I had a little 35w rms x2 Alpine amplifier that the guy at the stereo shop SWORE to me would run 2 ohms bridged though it was not advertised to do so. I wired it that way, and that little turd POUNDED! Every once in a great while during summer it would shut off for a minute to cool off if I was running it hard, but other than that it was terrific.

Just a thought...but again you try it at YOUR risk. If your amplifier burns up don't try to sue me
