Default Weird question about the fuel gauge,

I know that the H3 doesn't get the best fuel economy ever but I've noticed that driving around town my needle doesn't go down but whenever I start it up it always ends up being quite a bit lower, does this happen to anyone else or am I crazy?

Default pretty good gage

in a ford u can drive a week b4 the needle leaves full!!, then after 3/4 it takes a dive, very nonlinear. i drove a lot of fords in 50 yrs

the h3 is much better, the 4 quarters are pretty much the "top" 20 gal of 23, the other "3"+- are at mt and ive heard theres 2-3 left when the lite comes on and thats right on the mt line.

that said, with 5 gal / quarter,u need to drive 30 to 40 miles b4 it moves much, and i dont think these new gages move as freely as the old,so u may not see much till a restart when just "drivin round town".

Default 16 mpg,1 gal shows

i just drove apx 20 miles with 1/4 tank showing and i can see a drop at the low end of the gage so it can be non linear.
im only getting apx 16 so far at 1500 miles on my new h3. i got 18-20 on the 07.

i think the last quarter goes faster

oh, i just remembered, my 07 went over full on a fill up, the 10 some time does not go to full, or as high

Oh ya, my mileage looks good for the first 60 miles and then goes down quickly. I only get around 13-14, even driving conservatively. I also notice the fuel gauge reads a lot lower when I restart. I'm above a quarter when I get home, but the next morning it's below 1/4.

06, same experience as all of you. Glad to hear I'm not the only one I was beginning to think I was a little nutty. I feel like a Prius in that first 60 miles lol
