I am wanting to replace my water pump, I was told if I replace it, I should replace the timing belt as well. Is this true or not? 2004 hummer h2 with 105600 miles on it.

 

I am not a Tech,but I think your motor has a timing Chain !!

 

No timing belt on your 6.ol and the timing chain does not need to be replaced.

 

I replaced the water pump a few weeks ago .. Water pump had nothing to do with timing at all .. Maybe your misunderstood timing belt and the fan belt

I replaced the AC belt cause was worn , Also make sure you get a new thermostat and to follow the torque specs .

Very easy job , only hard part was to remove the Fan .. Need to rent a tool from autoparts

 

What temperature were you running before you did all that? What do you think fixed it or did you just replace all the stuff at once?
