hindsight: if i cant rent the right tools ill BUY them!!
i had only a big wrench for the big nut. it was too thick to fit in the space so i had to pull 2 pulley bolts.
i wont bore you with details of my mistake,braim fart, that cost me 3 hrs! but just say,DO NOT PULL ALL 4 BOLTS!!
i was able to get a big screw driver to hold the pulley and then bang the wrench with a short 2x4 a few times till the nut loosened.

the pump then was ez. i reversed the process and banged the nut tight??? and replaced the 2 bolts with some real difficulty.
yesterday a puddle when parked hot,,,today, no puddle!
a big job for me.

rent the tools!!!

oh, i used gasket sealer on the pump and then locktight on the big nut.
the biggest nut was the guy who did the job, but it got done.

 

Lol... the # of times I've done nutty things with auto repair...well I'm old enough to be humble and admit it... hahaha

 

One of these day's I'll have to admit to all the times I've made the job harder by taking off all the other stuff around it just to make it "easier". Glad you got it fixed.

 

Most auto parts loan the clutch fan nut wrench out free with a return deposit.
