Red face ugh! still addressing front end noise....

So I wanted to start a new post about an ongoing goofiness I'm having with Happy.
This week stopped by local shop and had a tech ride along to see what his thoughts were with this MT type tire noise in the front end of 07 H3 62k miles well maintained Hummer. Happy has AT tires 8k miles and rotated.

His observations were as follows:
* brake slides not allowing pads to retract (worked on these tonight. They are all cleaned up and back in place. They were very crusted in rust.)(on a side note if anyone has an extra clip to hold the slide pins I sure could use it please? )

* brake calipers ceased (brakes are equally depth and 1/4" of pad left easy)
* alignment
* hub (have now rechecked these...tight and quiet)
* tires (8k miles not likely but may be)
The rest of the story is in another posting which I can't seem to tie to this thread.

Sounds like your tires are "cupped" or "scalloped".

No way to fix them now unless you have a tire shaver in the area.

Hmmm. May be. But when the tech was out side he checked the tires pretty well and commented they were decent.

They don't "look" feathered or cupped form the pix but the only way to tell is with your hands.

Read hummerz post he linked to above. You will be able to feel it when you run the palm of your hand in the opposite direction of the tires forward rotation.

So, lol.
We drove Happy yesterday and the road noise is still quite pronounced even after cleaning the slide pins and lube n them. The tire test seems fine. The tires are in good shape.
