Sorry Miami, haven't been on the site in a bit. I learned all this the hard way also. I think with an upgraded trans cooler and a brake controller you should be ok. Just always keep an eye on your trans and engine temps. My trans blew when my torque converter gave up but there was no warning signs. these h2s actually tow pretty good. I dont even try to use the tow/haul button, i just manually put it in 3rd gear and leave it there. weight distibution hitch is a real bonus.

I strongly suggest using the tow/haul button. It makes it so much easier on the truck

I Replaced my trans with a 4L80e and ever since the tow/Haul button shifts between 4th and 3rd quite a bit. it generates more heat than just towing in 3rd for me.

I hate towing with my H2. When I do, its in the Poconos (PA). For any unfamiliar, it is an up and down task, at some times nearly a 45. Mountain people calls these round tops, "Hills." -But, a friend had blown two transmissions towing two quads and quad and camping gear, respectively. This was probably at one year old and the following Summer after. I worry my transmission all of the time. The weight of the truck with the transmission in it is not something I am cocky about, nor so much the motor (again for the weight.) When going up a slight incline, my tranny drops a gear and the truck grits its teeth like it is trying to hold on to a house falling off of a cliff. I will never use it to tow again, unless it was a flat ride. I will just keep it naked in the woods and Pine Barons. As the brakes go, they stop on a dime with a full trailer load.

So I have to tow my car (3800lbs +/-)in a couple of weeks. I have a 10" drop hitch. Is that too much drop? Should I go with and 8" or 6" drop instead in order to keep the trailer more level once the car is loaded? I towed a friends featherweight Miata and it sat level but my car is a bit heavier. Thx.
