Default Temperature Gauge

Need some help guys. I'm not very mechanically inclined so there is not much I can do myself. Got in my 98 H1 the other day and noticed the temperature gauge wasn't registering. drove 20 miles back home and it never moved.

I replaced the gauge itself in hopes it would be something i could fix. New gauge does the same thing. What could the problem be? The gauge never seems to move at all.

Is it still safe to drive? Or could it overheat because of whats causing the issue.

Now i cant even remember how long it should take it to come to temp. I know it takes longer than a normal car but how long is long enough?

The hummer mechanics are 90 miles from me. Should i try to drive it to the shop and try to get it towed?

Thanks

Patrick

Flash offroad had a diagram so i know where to check the sender.

I'll check it out first thing in morning. I just took it for a test run and the guage may have moved a little bit, i mean just barely but Im pretty sure it did move. Does that mean it might not be the sender init?

Since it was chilly I did run the heater and it is good and warm like it should be.

Thanks

Patrick

On thing you never have to worry about is an H1 not warming up. Haha. It I most likely the sending unit. Had this problem with an old S10 I had years ago. Easy swap.
