T-Case Service
My dealer tells me that it is necessary to change the fluid in the transfer case every 15,000 miles, at a cost of $100.00 a pop
They claim that since the T-case runs all the time and only holds one quart, it gets very dirty and needs changing.
That does makes sense to me, but $100.00 ?? Don't you just drain and refill and you're done?
Has any one heard of this info or paid this price??
I know Doc Olds will know.
Thanks in advance

Dealer labor rates are $100 an hour, give or take depending on your area.
That's partially why I do fluids and brake work myself. Besides, they're about the last manly things left that one can do now in today's society! LOL

To me it's easier than changing the engine oil if you have the right tools. Drain it yourself at 15,000 miles and see for yourself what the fluid looks like. It's kind of odd that the transfer case oil is just transmission fluid and I don't know of any transmission change intervals of 15,000 miles. The transmission works all the time, just like to transfer case doesn't it? I was lazy and waited until 50K to change mine, but will likely go to 25-30K in the future.
