oil was leaking into combustion chamber. if i had to do it over again i would replace the engine.

 

So what did you have done? I assume the leaking was through the valve guides and you had the head replaced. I talked to the dealer here and they are around $2800 to replace the head or they can get me an entire long block for $3900. The service advisor agrees that at 150K miles, he'd rather see me replace the entire engine than slap a new head on the old block.

As of now, my plan is that in the spring I'll do that. I want to replace the transfer case chain, new ring and pinion in the front and rear axles, new front half shafts and wheel bearings. That will restore it to near new reliability aside from sensors.
