Default Squeeky brakes

I just picked up a used 2007 H3 with 41000 miles on it. So far I love it. The only problem with it is that when they did the saftey inspection at the dealer they put on new front & rear brakes. When I test drove it I didn't notice any noises. But after we bought it my wife swore that he could hear a high frequency squeal coming from the rear brakes when we were slowing down to stop. I couldn't hear anything. Any way we got the dealer to put in writing that they would fix the brakes. After a while the noise got louder and now I can hear it too. So today they looked at the brakes and said that there wasn't anything wrong with the tham and that they were squeeling because the rotors were glased. I wanted them to cut the rotors but thay wouldn't because thay said that they would just glase back up again. He said that because they use semi metalic brake pads this happens all the time. The only way to perminately fix it would be to put on ceramic pads. My question is this: Is this a common problem with the H3? I have put semi metallic pads on a lot of cars over years but they didn't squeek.

Thats BS, mine don't squeal. Raise a stink, and they'll fix it. If the guy your dealing with wont do anything go to his boss and so on.

Got him to agree to ruff up the rotors with a wire wheel. But they ran out of time today. I will have to take it back next week. That was the sales manager I was working with.

What good is deglazing the rotors without doing the same to the pads? Deglazing with a wire brush? Are they kidding, is this a GM dealer?

Nope it's not a GM dealer. Anybody have any luck with CRC Disc brake quiet?

The factory replacement pad sets for H3 include new teflon and stainless steel backing plate shims to eliminate brake noise. My guess is that your non-dealer's shop installed a set of aftermarket pads that didn't come with shims.

CRC works by gluing the pads to the pistons, in theory this could work to dampen out the noise.
