You could go to the web sites and view the different models and how they make them. I thought about getting one of the complete covers, but liked the thought of the guard.

Ahhh.... another oldie dug up.

You can mangle a PC spider with a few hits from a heavy sledge, but they do look cute.

Your arms will be tired from swinging and you can't dent or break this one.

Yes Doc,
I kinda agree with that assessment. A Riddler full cast iron cover seems more the way to go.

It's not cast iron: H3 Rear Differential Cover

Doc, No disrespect intended, but different needs require different solutions. I agree with your assessment of the products, but cost vs. need has to be considered. The spider is less then a third of the cost of the replacement covers. I know that you get what you pay for, but for those that only see mild trails and want the added security the spider offers it is better then nothing. Now if dragging your rear across boulders is your thing, spend the extra money and buy the upgraded rear cover.

I liken it to UCP. Stock GM UCP works great for most of us. If you need additional protection, go with the new CB set up or add the Thor plates to the stock units. The same can be said for spring and shock sliders. Some believe you only need shock slides, other believe you should have both. Same for rock sliders, how much protection do you really need and how much are you willing to pay for it. The examples can go on and on.

My point here is that there are different markets for both of these products... This is not personal, just my opinion. We all know what they say about opinions... They are like...

Sorry,
Im coming from a 06 Wrangler back ground... so limited knowledge of H3;-). With Jeep the Riddler cover was cast iron and damn near indestructible. Mabe H3 dont have the same availability of diff cover?
Chris

p.s. it is allot like ARB's.

I believe they are stamped steel on the H3, but I could be wrong. There are plenty of others that would know for sure.

Sanded, cleaned, painted and bed lined the rear before installing the PCSpider diff slider. I'm happy with the results & if I ever damage it, I'll upgrade to the complete cover.
