I searched the forum regarding a Spare Tire Mounted Basket, and came up with nothing.

So my question is this. Do any of you Hummer Godsknow where I can find one. My wife & I saw this Jeep (I know, the ONLY 4-Letter Word in this Forum ) driving down the road with this cool looking basket above the spare tire as if it was mounted behind it. It looked a lot more sturdy than the Hitch Mounted Baskets, and it could be semi-permanent.

My wife, "The Roaming Gnome - Denouncer of Travel Myths" couldn't find one for the H3. Any ideas? We love the roof baskets, but the Ol' garage clearance can't handle one.

I've never seen anything like that for the H3...and wouldn't that just about kill your view out the rear? What about a hitch mounted tray?

They were the original manufacturer, but it appears they have discontinued this item
as it no longer appears on their web site. If you do a search on several other forums,
you will find specs and or plans for making your own. A few guys with the proper fab
skills made some great racks, wile others took the specs and had them made.

One thing to keep in mind is the amount of weight the spare tire carrier can hold w/o getting damaged. I wouldnt think you would be able carry anything too heavy on it?? I use the hitchhaul rack which fits in your trailer hitch. I also added the "Z-bar" which gives the rack a little more ground clearance. It doesn't look as cool but it gets the job done and can carry a heavy load.

 

I've got a spare tire mount bike rack on mine. I've loaded up 2 full suspension downhill rigs on it no problem. The tire bracket is mounted to the rear door subframe, not the body panels. It'll hold quite a bit.
