thanks,its getting worse and I'm a long way from home.Both issues are starting to be a pain.checked the wiring to the shifter dont see anything wrong.maybe the switch with the button is going bad??

Finally solved the problem!! the previous owner spilled cherry soda down the shifter. In the mornings it was real sticky until it warmed up enough to work right.i took apart the lockout solenoid and cleaned it.It functions perfectly now.And the key comes out of the ignition too.

HEY HEY NOW! Don't go talking bad about cherry soda! It's good and good for you! 4 out of 5 dentists recommend it for job security.

Ok, just kidding. Actually I don't drink soda, but glad you found it. Those actuators are good time aren't they. I love my electronics, but hate when they go bad.
