Exclamation serious mechanical failure - help needed

Hello from europe, everybody.

Urgent help needed: yesterday a serious malfunction occured on our 2008 Hummer H3:

the car refuses to move (freezes) when the steering wheel is turned more then 1/2 a turn in each direction. It simply "brakes" to a halt, no matter what . Both in Drive AND in Reverse, too.

We brought the car to a service that seems to understand US-vehicles, but they seem to be clueless so far... Any ideas/similar experiences ?
We suspect the differentials, but how to check ??

Could it be the electronic brake-distribution gone havoc?

IMMENSELY THANKFUL for ANY suggestion/info.

Cheers

Antonio

You said differentials? Was the truck running ok when you last parked it or did this happen while driving?

If it drives ok without turning the wheel then I would say the stability control problem, sensor or computer.

Try to take it out of stability control, hold the button in for a good ten seconds.
I never heard of this problem, but if it is the SC then try it without.

Default in low low??

My wife told me her 2008 H3 was doing kinda the same thing, that when she backed/turned or went forward/turned, the truck wanted to just "stop"..really acting weird...When I checked it out, she had somehow shifted into Low Lock, or whatever it;s called, by pushing the dash button!!. She didn't notice the indicator light. The truck sure doens't want to move, on pavement, when all the wheels are locked!!

Thanks everybody, this sounds encouraging.
I will try these two things first thing tomorrow.

If it proves not to be the reason, any ideas which mechanical
part of the 4WD system is most likely to cause such problems?

Cheers

Same thing happened to me last week accidentally, it's really weird if you don't know why your truck suddenly behaves so strange...

@strogateta
Where are you from - Italy? Greetings from Germany!

Smile Possibility

You might check both of your wheel CV joints. If one is damaged it might lock up when the wheel is turned, and free up with the wheel straight. I have seen this on solid axle setups before.
