RPM Gauge Failure
I have a 2010 H3 3.7L w/15,000 miles on it. About a month ago I was driving down the highway and noticed that my RPM's gauge was reading about 1,000 RPMs which obviously wasn't right. Within 10 minutes the RPM gauge slowly went down to read 0 PRMs. When I stepped on the gas the RPM gauge did go up but it just seemed like it was reading about 2,000 RPMs too low. This is just what the gauge was reading b/c the truck was running 100% fine. When I arrived at my destination I turned off the truck and went in for about 10 minutes and started it back up and everything was okay. I then drove about 400 miles directly after that w/no issues.
Well today I get in my truck and the same thing happens. I'm planning on taking it to the dealer but I know it probably won't be doing this when I bring it in. Anybody have any ideas of what could be causing this problem? In case this makes a difference I have a Volant CAI, GM Performance Exhaust, and a PCM Tune from PCMForLess.
Thanks,
Jason

Don't mention your PCMForLess unless you have to. Tell them you had it recalibrated for tire size or something so contact you first before modifying it.
I love the service guys at my dealer, we have a "Don't ask don't tell" relationship, as in "Don't ask me what I modified or how I broke it" understanding.
They don't really care at the end of the day if its warranty work, GM just cuts them a check and rarely asks questions.
It's just hard to find a dealer what will go out their way to hunt down issues if they're not getting paid for diagnostics which they don't if its warranty work. My dealer would just replace the cluster without question if I said I had a problem.

I kept my old PCM for this reason so as much of a pain as it is to unclip those things I'm going to put my original one back in before I bring it in. Anyone else ever had this RPM thing happen or have any guess of what the issue could be?
