It's been installed for about a year and a half now, haven't noticed any vibration noise from day one. the results below are from an independent company, they did the test on a 2003 Dodge Ram HD2500, I have to say I did notice a considerable diffrence when I installed mine, I can't really say the results are as good as you see below, but the results are great.

Dyno Results:

3316 rpm stock = 134.3 hp / 3317 rpm
True Flow = 157.4 hp which is a 23.1 Gain!
3316 rpm stock = 212.7 ft/tq / 3317 rpm
True Flow = 249.3 ft/tq which is a 36.6 Gain!

V8s don't compare well to I5s. The only AWD dyno in Detroit went under. Next closest is 4 hours away, so I am not in a hurry to do any dyno testing yet.

Realistically, with an I5 you should expect 2-5 HP with just a change to a performance filter (cotton gauze type), and another 5-12 HP when ditching the stock intake for a pipe.Torque should be similar, but not as much on the high end. Ditch the stock intake snorkel for a big mouth to the fender, and maybe more, that is what I want to test.

I agree on the V8part for sure, an easy way to test your idea would be to just pull the cover of the filter box, you will have zero restriction on the filter box, at least it will tell you if it's worth doing something with the intake snorkel.

I think I'm going to go with this one

It's only about 200 bucks and the reviews look solid.
That's the same one that I have Ryan. Like I said, don't expect miracles but it does feel like it makes a difference. Like Doc said, if you go ahead and change out the intake hose it will get even better. I've had the K&N CAI before, the whole kit, hose and everything; and this is at least in the same ball park IMO. Just judging from the performance of my H3. Didn't expect it to run like I dropped a 350 in it or anything though, but it did give it more power off the line.

If you use the Airaid system, you still have to use the lower half of the airbox. The guard around the filter that comes with the Airaid effectively seals off the filter from the rest of the engine compartment. That leaves you sucking air through the same hole in the bottom of the airbox. Have you seen that hole? It is about the same diameter as a silver dollar. What kind of an advantage is that? Especially if you use the stock tube from the filter to the engine. Get the K&N. They were the first. They are still the best. And they have dyno results to prove their claims. [sm=gears.gif]

I am working on my own setup: http://www.sbfilters.com/product_display.php?id=2504

Universal Filter: FL ID 3.5, Top OD 5.25, Element Height 8, End Cap: SS PS, Blue Oil, 8ply
R1137--$35.71

Either Carbon Fiber or Aluminum Intake pipe, using (1) 3.5" to 3" silicon Hump Hose and (1) 3" to 3" Hump hose or with a 45 degree 3.5" to 3" Hose. Keeping the Air box to keep the Roar down.

GM performance has a nice kit and it uses a AEM Dry-Filter.

Some Quality Filters:

ITG Filter
info@coastfab.com
Part Number I/D Neck Fitting (a) O/D Neck Fitting (b) Filter Diam (c) Neck Length (d) Overall Length (e) JC 60/86 86mm=3.39" (a) 89mm=3.5" (b) 180mm=7.25" (c) 53mm=2.25" (d) 213mm=8.+" BHP480

UNIVERSAL AEM DRYFLOW AIR FILTER 21-2049DK- Air Filter, 3.5" Opening x 9" Element
(Might a tight fit in the OEM Air Box)

Sounds cool, but if you are still using the stock airbox, you are still trying to make more power breathing throught the same size straw. The inlet hole on that stock airbox is pathetically small.
