Relatively Inexpensive Lightbar
Hi,
Recently purchased a 2006 H2. I wanted a lightbar for the front, roof mount. After researching for awhile, I found a nice looking basic unit from Carr Products. They do not have a unit specifically for the Hummer. However, after looking into it a bit and finding them available from JC Whitney for only $99 dollars, I decided it was worth a try. Figured I could make it work some way. I ordered the unit intended for a Chevy/GMC Silverado Heavy Duty, JC Whitney part# ZX346509F. It is a black low profile unit.
It showed up the day after JCW said it would ship. It is well made, heavy metal with cast end plate mounting brackets. It is intended to mount on a gutter drip rail or add-on brackets. After looking it over and trial fitting, I mounted it by sitting the brackets on the plastic moulding around roof clearance lights. I reversed the brackets meant to clip around/under drip rails, drilled 4 holes in each and used SS screws to attach each side to clearance light mouldings. I figure if I hit something the only loss will be a clearance light moulding, should be easy to replace. The lightbar seems very secure.
It makes a nice looking installation. I used KC 2x6 extended range driving lights, four of them. The covers for the lights are standard KC which I took to a vinyl sign shop and had them make yellow"signs" to match Hummert for each. Here in SC that cost $16 dollars installed.
Pictures are worth a thousand words so I have attached a few of installation.
Hope this is useful to someone else. I am sure it probably could be made to work on H3 also.
