Yes Ray, I know what those pictures look like, they are off of my truck. They are the pics I posted in the other 2 big threads about hood louvers. If you had read through those threads then you should have all the information you need to decide if they are for you. My question is why? Why, did you edit your response to me and replace it with pictures of my truck??? That may be one of the reasons for the animosity you feel on the boards.

I did a search and I did read your thread but I am still undecided about Hood Louvers. This is a serious and expensive modification. This is why I am asking the question. I edited my initial response to you because in spite of your response, which sounded to me as snide or catty and not a sincere comment. I then responded in kind. However, if your response was sincere and forthright then I apologize. I don't have animosity, more like an annoyance because I was banned from another forum for no other reason than because I simply disagreed with the good ol boys. Also user Tainter has constantly harassed me (and others) on this forum and other forums.

Bringing this back around again to get back on topic, I would just ask why you would want to make this sort of a modification? I simply cannot imagine that this would decrease the amount of heat under the hood profoundly. If you are having issues with overheating, I would *think* that there are other modifications which could be made, e.g. larger capacity radiator, fan, etc. etc. that would have a greater impact on cooling.

A new mechanical fan is a good start, it moves a lot of air when operating properly. E-fans can't beat it in extremely hot weather but it would free up a lot of power in those temps. The vents really reduce underhood temps, reducing heat soaking and helping out when going slow or stopped. The real solution is a bigger/more efficient radiator. Having a big a/c heat exchanger right in front of and blocking the radiator. Especially as the a/c heat causes the radiator to work extra hard. One thing that helps is to take the radiator off and clean all the mud and leaves out from inbetween. I had posted IR pics of my mod'ed H3 and my wife's stock H3 after coming off the highway in early summer. You can see the difference in underhood temperatures. My radiator temp tests were inconclusive on the hwy but appeared to help cool around town in traffic.

no matter what,,,the thermostat keeps it at 195 huh...

i cut hole in my 07 h3 x hood and installed a armored grill from a m1036 mil h1 got rin of the mech fan installed an elect fan no problem does not overheat grill lets in a lot more air

Not really, thats just when it opens. The temps are free to go up from there, and like most things that deal with heat, the hotter it gets, the easier it is to get even hotter. In the tight engine compartments our vehicles have, the heat needs a way to get out freely. If it can not, then it starts a heat soak cycle thats hard to overcome without free flowing air.
My Alpha used to run between 198 and 215 depending on conditions. Now its supercharged with a 160 thermostat and vented hood. Temps are between 165 and 174.
I feel much better with these temps.
