Rattle on front right

Rattle on front right
Question for the group. Can something in the exhaust system cause a rattle? I have a rattle type sound coming from somewhere by front passages side which sounds like from underneath by firewall or near front right engine area. At first I thought the worst like diff or idler pully or water pump etc. I am now however because of the way it sounds (kind on tinny) that it might have something to do with the exhaust. Can a catalytic converter come loose or something inside come loose or rust thru? I live in an apartment so can't really look under there due to space and skid plate? Any ideas are appreciated. Also check engine light came on which also furthers my belief that it's something with the exhaust. However usually when it comes in its gas cap related and goes off after a while after retightening so not 100% that is part of it. Anyway thanks for any ideas or info on exhaust. Oh and it's a 2006 i5 with like 72 k on it and not seen much off road. Oh and also besides that it drives perfect.

Telling us a CEL came on without providing the code, is basically useless information.
Regarding the rattle, check the exhaust manifold heat shield... common culprit, it gets cracked and come in contact with something or just makes a racket.

Ill check those thanks! Also if I could get the code I would have told ya what it was. Letting you know a code was thrown could prompt you to think of other things even if ya don't know the actual code so I don't see it as completely useless telling you that. Thanks for the info I hope it is something easy like the shield. If ya have any other thoughts let me know.
