Default Question about Tires on my H3 and power?

Hi Guys, I have a 2006 H3 and I currently have Super Swampers LT305/70R16 Is there another tire/size I could get that will help out in that sluggish under power feel? I was looking at the Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/16 but I was told that the diameter was about the same as what I have now. wouldn't it be better to run a smaller diameter to help with sluggishness? Also why are some of the H3 have stock tires of LT265/75/16 and my H3 stock tire list LT285/75/16 is this difference in size related to suspensions? I really want to have a good looking semi off road/street quiet tire that will help out in over-all power than the super swamper LT305/75/16 that I have now. Thanks for your input!

Mark

i think 265's came on regular h3s, and 285 came on adventure package h3s.

Correct, somebody get scuba a cookie!

the 265s are 32" tires on the Base and Lux, the 285s are 33" tires on the Adventure and Lux w/Adventure pkg. Your 305s are also 33" tires.

32s are fairly worthless off road, and the difference from the 33s will be pretty minimal in the pep department, but there would be some. Many people are running 35s and don't have a problem with that. Its a Hummer, not a sports car.

IMHO you'd be better off doing performance mods and keeping 33" tires. An intake, PCM tune and CAT back will grow your truck some *****.

Nittos are a budget tire. Have you ever thought of sticking with a tire from the USA instead of foreign terds?

Problem is the engine, not the tires. Just plain ole' underpowered.
