Default Project idea: what do you think?

Ok...I'm the guy who was talking about line-xing my entire interior minus the door panels.

Found out that it was going to be crazy expensive, so kind of thinking of a DIY.

Here's my idea...

I'm thinking of pulling up the carpet, using roll on bed liner, drilling some drain plugs and using boat plugs to plug the drain holes.

Is this doable? I've not seen under the carpet so I don't really know what I'm getting into.

Opinions welcome.

There are a few posts on this forum and the other CHO where people have pulled the carpet to do various mods. If memory serves me right i think there is wiring or something running under the carpet that would need to be routed through conduit to make it more clean looking. I love the look in a jeep but don't feel the floor of the hummer has as clean of a look as the jeep. There are some good floor mats out there that cover the floor well and will contain mud and water well. Not to mention doing this in your H3 will destroy your resale value unless you keep the carpet to reinstall. This is not a mod i will be doing and i have a full on love affair with Line-X. Everything plastic on the exterior will be coated to match my fenders and doors. Just having to do it in phases ($$$). I personally will keep my hummer until it falls to pieces or i can buy an H1. Honestly I will probably keep it even if either of those two events happen.

I've done it to a few Jeeps, the DIY style. Heck I even did it to the ENTIRE JEEP. Inside, outside and under. Looked cool and was pretty resilient. I, however, would not do it to the H3. For one, it wouldn't look nearly as clean as in a Jeep nor would you gain much by it. I would imagine it would make road noise much louder for one, and I am sure there is wire re-routing. But it's your rig, I would just make sure you got the good liner, cheap stuff won't look nearly as good nor last as well.
