Default Problems down the road?

Occasionally when driving down the road my windshield wipers will just randomly turn on and run once. Never really thought much of it, but something else strange has happened of late. Every now on then the security lock warning light comes on. Unfortunately the code is not being saved, so scanning for the code doesn't turn anything up. The other day after a short trip to the store, when I I started the car it would not allow me to put it into gear. Oddly the odometer wasn't reading as well at this time. I shut the car off, restarted, and it went into gear no problem. Since then no issues....

However, I'm a bit concerned that my car has electrical problems that could come back to bite me down the road. Anyone else experience anything like this or have an idea as to what the causes might be?

I've had that happen with my wipers before, I assume it's just the BCM acting up.

My fear is that the BCM is screwed up and may activate some sort of anti-theft device and leave me stranded as I've read can happen. Maybe I should just replace it now. Anyone know where you can buy a new one and how easy/difficult they are to replace?

Did you ever have that sunroof leak and get the passenger side floor area wet?

See where this is going?

The BCM is down behind the glove box by the passenger side kick plate, if it gets wet, you likely will have issues.

I also want to ask, do you still have the crappy OEM battery terminal connectors?

See where you're going....never had the sunroof leak though to my knowledge. I changed out the battery terminals as soon as I got the vehicle.

Good move on the battery terminals. I do not understand why so many people do not believe that the OEMs are absolute junk and cause a bunch of trouble down the line?

Like any electrical man made part, a BCM can just go bad. You might want to lay eyes on it, check that the connections are solid and see if anything looks wrong with the harness leading to it.
