That's funny cause my H3 temp gauge sits just above 1/4.... Never seen it make it to half..... Goes to show that they really aren't to be taken too seriously. If it was pegged, its probably worth investigating but it seems like they do vary a lot between vehicles....

I am thinking about getting this mat for the back. I was thinking of cutting the triangle pieces out so that I can use the tie downs for my Weimaraners.

Looks like there's a stock tire under that spare tire cover.
Make sure it's the same diameter as the tires on the ground.
Bad things can happen if you run tires of different diameters on these trucks.

My buddy and I were talking about that before I bought it. I need to buy another tire to replace the stock one. Hopefully I dont get a flat in the next month or so!

hills, i would leave the grill and air boxes black. I did the same to mine and love the look. I like chrome just not on my h3... i leave the chrome for my 08 highlander. I used truck bed coating for my grill and plastic dip for my air boxes. Deffinatly consider a pcm upgrade and a high flow air filter, and maybe a shorty header.

Not sure what to do next? I was looking at this Gobi rack.. What are your con's/pro's? (I am an avid hiker, biker, climber, drunk, weekend warrior, camper, adventurer, it is quite common for me to venture out on a 100-600 mile journey in a weekend.. storage is key, as I prefer to keep the dogs inside the cargo area.) GOBI Hummer H3 8 Foot Roof Rack

Beyond a rack, auxiliary lighting, winch, and a second battery.. what else should I look into?

Intake, Magnaflow exhaust have already been done.. Where to next?

I'd put that matching spare at the very top of your list. It's gonna cost you a bundle if you need it and don't have it especially if it happens in the middle of nowhere. For some cheap added storage look at a hitch cargo carrier - about $100, more if you get a really nice one. Also a roof storage bag. I picked one up at REI for around $100.

From personal experience you can get a lot inside even with 3 people, a 95# Borderweiller, and an 80# Golden.

A full size spare should be at the top of my list. I agree with you!!

I kind of like this rack, although I am not sure about leaving it on full time: Name: photobucket-4430-1338660033575.jpg

I think the hitch carrier is more practical. If you have the roof rack that's where you put the lighter cargo. With this rack it's going to be a pain if you have heavier cargo. Also how is it mounted? If you don't want to leave it on there all the time do you have to remove the spare to get it off? and then take it off again to put it back on? That would be a pain. The hitch carrier is easy to use and take out regularly.
