Default Over Heating???

Hi everyone, Today it was 98 degrees. I noticed that while moving my temp remained in the middle of Hot/Cold. When I was in traffic and barely moving for about 10-15 minutes, the temp went right up to the Hot...Not beyond it into the Red Warning area...but still too close to over heating for me. Any ideas?

Did you check the coolant level? Oil temps up also? If the coolant level is fine the T-stat is a likely candidate. If the coolant level is low refill and check for leaks and temp. Let us know what you find,

How close to red? Sounds to me like the truck was doing the best it could... and the only way you are going to fight that is with some aux fans...

Did you have the A/C on?

It seems to be a common problem, on a really hot day I have the same problem, I've seen a thread here a long time ago about this and most people have experienced the same thing, if it gets really hot, turn off the AC, it will help.

Mine does the same thing especially if I'm wheeling at low speeds on hot days. Will climb up but never goes into red. This is what concerns be about getting a winch/bumper combo. i don't want anything else blocking airflow.

My H3 Alpha has done something very similar on a hot day, driving around town with the AC on. I recalled reading that one can cool the engine effectively by letting the engine run at about 1500 rpm while standing still. I tried this and it REALLY dropped the temp needle back down to the middle of the gauge quickly.

My H3 Alpha has not run hot, even in the desert with the AC going full blast.

Yeppers...I was one who brought that same question up last summer (Do a search) Mine sits at the center mark or just over it but has never gone too high to worry. As you know Florida doesn't get too hot so I'm not too worried...
