Can someone still tell me if the rubber boot is suppose to go all the way around. The one just under the grill and above the bumper. If so I need to get mine fixed. If not S**T HOT! Hummer still kicks butt problems or no problems.

The rubber trim is only on each side. Not below the grille. It has some plastic rivets holding it to the bumper.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this post. It's things like these forums that help us all understand our vehicles. We all demand a lot of our trucks and get upset when things go wrong. Heck, I'll be the first person to say I traded in a fairly new car once because I found a small spot of rust in one of the doors. So I know how dissapointing it is to find flaws, defects, etc. on a new vehicle.

In the defense of GM, my dealer stands behind my truck 100%. I have had the jack recall, roof rails cracked, front differential EXPLODE while off roading. All of which I had my truck back from the dealer the same day or the very next day fixed and detailed waiting for me.

I do now that GM takes into consideration all the quality control issues. It just takes a little time to address everything. Those of you that work in a large corporate environment will know that!

I don't want to offend anybody either by any means, but Dennis has a point. Alot, if not most, cars have some kind of minor or major flaw.

MY personal opinion is the Dealer you purchase it from really plays a huge part in the overall satisfaction of your vehicle.

Dennis mentioned about going to the dealer and being irate; I personally love my dealer and treat those guys great because they treat me great. I have taken it in twice; once for the rear view mirror not having power to it, and once for the "CV boot" issue (and just so Dennis knows, I had no problem taking it in to get fixed, and was in and out of there with two brand new CV boots in about 2 hours) and NO I didn't take that statement personal, but just making a comment

My point to that statement is my dealer treats me, and all of it's customer's VERY well. They have a state-of-the-art waiting center with plasma tv's, cubicles with internet access and phones for business reasons, Starbuck's coffee, free doughnuts, and probably the most comfortable chairs you will ever sit in. They are a Hummer/Cadillac dealer. They never question you or give you trouble when you tell them what's wrong. They take your car and fix it with no questions asked.

This being said, if you buy from a reputable dealer and a reputable sales person, most of the time they will make your concerns about the repair to your vehicle less of a hassle and make it tolerable for you to get it repaired. If you go to a dealer that doesn't give two-@!#$'s about you, then you will obviously be upset and say that GM makes bad products.

I'm not saying I support GM 100%, because H3gal has some valid points, and there should be better quality control, but I think that is just universal with many American car companies. BUT then again, you cannot judge an ENTIRE car company on one bad experience and especially, a LYING dealer and/or service department. BUT then again, if GM didn't follow up with that dealer after what you told them about lying about the new parts, that is on GM also.

So, my point is (and you all know by now I have to make one ) is that you can't judge a car by the dealer who sold it to you, or the quality control of that dealer. GM can't possible control every single GM dealership out there and the way they deal with people. It's just financially impossible to do.

H3gal: I really do sympathize with you. I think you have every right to be upset, especially because of the way your dealer treated you, BUT that does not mean every H3 that comes off the line is garbage, and Dennis has a VERY valid point; you only hear about the problems of other cars from people who actually admit to them. GM does seem to have more problems with more vehicles then other car manufacturers, but those other companies are not perfect either.

Bottom line: You can't judge a company by one vehicle or a dealer that treat's their customer's disrespectfully. I CAN understand why someone would get upset though, and can't critisize because I would think the same probably.

Anyway, Thank you for your time

It no problem getting them fixed it has been all little things. But when it take you in traffic two hours to get there and two hours back. Then they order the parts the same trip over again after a while it gets to you.
They always say never buy the first year that true in some cases.

I understand completely. Everybody's situation is different. My dealer is far also so I know how it is. If it wasn't for that great setup they have, I would probably be a little upset too!
