So you're upset over a small piece of torn rubber? just take it in an have the dealer replace it. It's no big deal. CERTAINLY not worth buying a Toyota over. By the looks of your H3, you don't like looking like every other 4X4 going down the road. You will if you buy a 4 runner. It's just an average vehicle for the daily population.

HummerMike, as one person who knows, from experience, the poor reputation of GM and the poor quality customer service as well as the poor workmanship in the Hummer, I have to support Dilo on this one...

It isn't just about torn rubber - it is about cracks in plastic - telling you they are replacing the parts "good as new" and then replacing them with old parts, don't forget about the MAJOR engine problems (mine went twice because GM insisted on trying to "fool" the consumer by putting old parts into the vehicle)...let's not forget about the stability track control that fails on some models, the foam coming out around the front windshield, the washer pumps in the back needing recall, the jacks needing recall, the doors having spider crack issues, the windshield wipers leaving streaks on your window and the front windshields ( I have recently learned) are put in at an angle such that if your windshield gets hit with ANY debris, it will smash (never mind crack) and put you and your passengers at risk, let's not forget the paint coming off on the radio and CV joints having cracks in them as well...the smells people get from their engines, including antifreeze...the overheating of the temp controls...(Did I leave anything out Dilo?)

Now, there are some people on this forum that will tell someone information that is not all factual - - like the fact that a consumer should tolerate these issues because the Hummer is a "first year model" and "everyone knows a first year model is bound to have problems". HOWEVER, the engine in this vehicle has been around for a very long time...they put them in the Chevy Colorado's and the Chevy Colorados had the same problems and still GM did not work out those glitches before putting the engine in the H3's...also, the Chevy Malibu has been out for a long while and I can personally attest to the fact that they are putting the same type of paint on the radios that are in the Malibus as in the H3's and the paint is coming off these radios over time...So, it isn't just because this is a first year model vehicle...

I learned the hard way - and I have to say - I fully support Dilo trading in this H3 (before it costs him any more money) and getting back to the Toyota...

The REAL point of this whole thing is that ALL OF US that purchased an H3 did so because we wanted the vehicle, we were told the vehicle was worth the money we paid and WE PAID A COMPETITIVE PRICE for these vehicles...we paid good money to get a good quality product. However, and in fact, we DID pay good money but DID NOT get a good quality product...

Finally, the "looks" of the H3 aren't everything...

I think that overall the members of this great forum are honest and good judges of quality issues. I sincerely hope that reps of GM and esp. of Hummer monitor this forum to be aware of problems, and prevent them in subsesquent model years. They have a great audience here for their product and their dealers. They spend millions on their advertising, but don't realize that we are the best spokespeople for their product. They should be courting our opinions and ownership experience for true product improvement. For the purchasers that we are, the dealer IS Gm or Hummer. They need to be responsive to us.The true quality of the vehicle is not determined in the first month or two of ownership- quality is what makes you go back to that dealer and automaker for another one. Auto surveys should be solicited from owners with greater frequency. I think it would be a great idea for car dealers to have a report card grade posted -just as restaraunts are required to do in California. I only eat there if they have earned an "A". I have been on this site for months before I became a member in June. My name is 07H3- I hope I wont have to change it to 08H3. Ed

Gm should be shut down for gods sakes!!!!! I mean reading these posts I guess they are the ONLY company that has recalls or a service department. Go to your local jap crap dealer and ask them how long a wait to get service....you'll be shocked!!

I'm going to lay it out..So don't take this personal anyone...

Quit your damn whining..I'm so sick of people complaining about a blemish in the paint where you can't see it unless you open a door and point it out with a magnifing glass, or a buzzing speaker or a streaking windshield or a puncture in a CV boot, etc..For crying out loud, this ain't a Rolls Royce, this is a mid-valued GM with a hell of a lot more going for it than a few nuisance problems, that can and will be fixed if you take it to the dealer without an attitude and with a little patience...I've had about every brand named car make out there..They ALL have screwed up cars in one manner or another..If yours is so screwed up, then yes, dump it, but for godsakes do your homework on the next bucket of bolts you buy, because you maybe bellyaching on that car's forum on what a bad car you got...It'll never end..I've learned to accept that cars develope problems because they are machines made by man, and go on...If you knew the Brake and gas pedal was too close when you test drove it..Why did you buy it?..Shut Up!
Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mercedes, Land Rover, AMC, GM, Ford, Dodge..And Damnit..There hasn't been a perfect car yet..Each and every car that I have owned has had minor to major problems from new..All usually fixed by the dealers..But as the old saying goes; The grass isn't always greener on the other side....So deal with what you got, or you'll never be happy with anything..At least you may not want admit to anyone that your new Toyota isn't flawless, or that Lexus is not perfect..But when you're all by yourself, ask yourself this when you are listening to a rattle somewhere behind the dash of that New Toyota...Did I really have it that bad in that amazingly unique and controversial HUMMER?

Sorry, I hope I didn't insult anyone....I am speaking in general as I am a Moderator on a Land Rover forum too, for the past 4.5 years...It's the same sort of compalints and discontentment over there..But it's also only a small minority of the owners..The ones that don't post much have no problems or have learned to deal with them and discuss ways to fix things..the ones that do post a lot, are always compalining either about their car or their dealer... ( Granted, I post a lot, but I have no real problems with my HUMMER, except some damn foam that sticks up next to the inside windshield..Imagine, I had to take a razor knife and cut it out myself...Damn GM junk)

So lighten up and get the problems fixed, change dealers if you can and enjoy the ride..And don't always be looking for something to go wrong, you'll jinx yourself.

(knock wood)

BTW; If any of you that are getting rid of your H3 and you have the Chrome roof crossbow racks..let me have them please..
