Default Need your help tonight -please

This morning my Las Vegas Hummer dealer said the H3 is in and I can pick it up tomorrow, Wed. So we go get a rental car here in Prescott Arizona and I cancel my caseload of clients for tomorrow. Then tonight there is a message on the machine that GM has just issued a price increase of $1100 on the options we ordered. All we ordered was Adventure package, auto, roof rail air bags and $50 engine block heater. I gave them a $2000 deposit 2 months ago. I am now in the position that I can not wait another 2 months to buy from another dealer. I need a car now. The salesman says it is out of the dealers hand because it is GM that raised the price. All I have as proof is an e-mail from the salesman listing the total agreed price and based on that I sent them a deposit. Please tell me my options and share any ideas you have. Thanks

I don't know for sure Skeeet..But if you put $2000 smakers down on an agreed upon price..Then I think that is a binding contract..Or else they should refund your money and you should take a trip to another Dealer and buy off the lot...That's the ground I would stand...Obviously you're not a lawyer (you used the word clients) but seems like you don't know the law..So In any case, that's what I'd do...There are so many to choose from off the bigger dealers lots, you should find something real close to what you're looking for...I drove over 380 miles one way to pick up mine and it was a lot deal, that I worked out over the phone on the options and closing price, even without an exchange of money..Just good faith on both parties side and got exactly what I wanted for exactly the price we agreed on...Let me know if you want me to hook you up with them..They'll meet you at the airport and bring you into the dealership, serve you lunch/dinner and send you down the road in a H3 of your choosing...Take the $2000 for a oneway plane ticket and gasoline back. and still have money left over to buy some aftermarket stuff..But I can promise you they will work a deal with you cheaper than anybody in the country. Their majority of business is from out of state buyers..

Dennis- Thanks for the reply. Where is this dealer located? My agreed price was $29,927 for H3 with Advent. pack., auto., roof rail air bags and engine block heater ($50). They now want $31,000. Do you think with air fare your dealer will do much better than that? It still is not too bad of a price just that I do not like being taken advantage of -they know I waited 2 months for the order and know $31,000 is not out of sight. The dealers in Phoenix add a $2000 desert package to every H3 they sell plus do not discount more than $600. I am thinking of saving $5000 and buying an Xterra which keeps winning awards all over the place --new Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Truck Trend...thanks again for the reply and offer.
PS- "clients" as in with a psychotherapist.

An Etcetera??..They are as common as Toyota's RAV 4 you see on every block and street corner..[sm=signs007.gif]

Seriously, really that ain't a bad price after all, but IMO, it's a principle thing of a contract..But for grins and giggles, call these folks in Benton, Arkansas (LANDERS HUMMER...1-800-896-5263) and Ask to speak to Rachael Buck and tell her Dennis from Oklahoma City Sent you...She'll hook you up. I paid Invoice.

PS; This car buying crap will drive you crazy (no pun intended)[sm=insomnia.gif]

Well I drove out to las Vegas this morning and worked out a deal where I paid $350 over what I originally agreed to instead of the ($1800 then $1100 more the dealer wanted) . My thinking was I know i was played BUT I sold my Jeep, already waited 2 months, was tired of reading the H3 catalog for 2 months solid, needed to buy something right now and the $30,350 out the door (not including tax) I paid was still by far the best price I found after a LOT of looking ( auto, adventurer's package, roof rail air bags and engine block heater -only options).
I got exactly 19.4 mph on the 4 1/2 trip back home.
Buying a new car is kind of like having a root canal.
Tires had 34 psi and i think it will drive better and get better mpg with about 38 psi.
