My Back Yard
Some of you, ok well mostly Nick, have been bugging my lazy *** to take pics of my yard that is nothing more then a myth until now, so here they are:

The patio and fence were done about 2 months ago. I built the gazeebo and swing. I used Tapcons to secure the gazeebo legs to the patio and measured the legs so they are all exactly semetrical to each other and aren't bowed or crooked and form a perfect square to properly support it in high winds. I built the frame of the swing first and dug holes on those legs into the grass and used a level to make the frame completely level before I finished it. My sister-in-law's well, they didn't do that, and then wonder why the swing doesn't work right
Anyway, there it is. Maybe one day I'll actually take some new pics of my H3 but that's asking alot
Saturday I'll be running all the speaker wires through the walls for our surround system in our living room. THAT will be a fun time.....

Very nice Mike. Your back yard looks a whole hell of a lot better than mine LOL! I have a big huge bald spot in my lawn where nothing, not even weeds will grow LOL! I think there is a huge bolder there and I've asked the builder to come back and make an exploratory effort since it obviously wasn't done right last year. If not I have told them if there are boulders underneith there I will simply deposit them on their undeveloped lot next doors when I have my pool put in hehehehehe :-)
Looks really nice! How did you do the pattern on the patio? Is that paint or a press in the concrete template thingy?
I speak from experience when I say .... I'd get rid of the rocks that border the patio. You'll hate it everytime you have to edge and keeping the grass from growing up in them is going to be a nightmare, even if you put down that black "nothing grows thru" stuff. The grass would look really nice up against the patio with a nice edge from your edger. Unless, of course, you have them there for a specific reason ...

Paige; I completely agree with you about the rocks, but alas, that is my wife's idea/decision. I told her I wanted to keep the grass growing up until the patio. The rocks cover up new soil which I laid down because they left a trench where the wood frame to the patio was, so there's no grass or seeds planted below the rocks. The rocks are so thick that I don't think any light gets through to the soil.
The concrete is a new technique they use called Stamping just as you said. They take the wet concrete which is died to whatever color you choose, and place these stamps on them. There are alot of variety to choose from. Unfortunately the grooves between ours aren't as deep as they are supposed to be but we got it done cheap so what can I expect? They wait a few days for the concrete to dry, then apply a laquor paint and sealant to it to give it it's final touch. Alot of new homes in our development have it since it's so much cheaper and easier to do then conventional stone, unless you do it yourself.

If the misses ever decides she doesn't like the rocks anymore.I like those stamp things, looks nice! If we build our next house, I just might go with a concrete floor and counter tops, have them etched and stained. No more wood floors for me!! Not with four dogs!!! You can do some really cool things with concrete these days.
Very NICE Mikey! You should spend much quality time out there enjoying it. Reminds me of my old hut in VA/DC area (except we had a deck rather than a patio)..OH and by the way...the weeds don't always grow UP from the soil underneath...they often grow from the rocks (seeds land in there from the wind, birds, mowing, etc)
