That is a common misconception about DVC subwoofers. A DVC vs SVC sub will have the advantage of different wiring configurations and the ability for the amplifier to run at either a higher OHM load or a lower OHM load thus the amplifier with produce more power (lower OHM load) or have increased control over the speaker (higher OHM load). In some other instances the DVC sub is designed to require a smaller enclosure size (like we have in the H3). We can discuss the other factors such as qts, vas, xmax, fts, etc if you wish.

The excursion of a particular speaker has to do with the voicecoil winding, former, and other factors designed into the speaker by the manufacturer.

I'm not punking on your system. I'm sure you have a very good sounding system. I was letting forum members know that other options do exist and that quality passive crossovers and speakers can go a long way to improving the overall sound stage and sound quality in our rigs.
