Default Mom's 08 Alpha

Worked on my mom's '08 Alpha. 2 days of fun!

Installed:
bfgoodrich ko2 285/75/16
front brush guard
rear tailight guards
roof cross bars
e&g fender flares with mud guards
weathertech window deflectors
odyssey 34-pc1500 battery with stinger terminals
k&n filter
front dome light
ddm tuning 55w 5000k hi/lo headlight and foglight
rear back-up sensors

replaced oil and filter with Mobil 1 full synthetic extended oil and filter
cleaned throttle body and maf sensor and reset idle with tech 2
replaced temperature control **** back light bulb
unclogged sunroof drains
restore windshield pillar plastic trim to black and install 3m double sided tape.
wheel alignment

Next mod would be to relocate the seat heater switch to the center console. That damn thing always turn ON when getting in and out the truck.

Nice writeup!
My '08 H3X ALPHA has the rear camera which helps in tight spots but my '09 CE has no camera or sensors. Where did you get the sensor kit, who is it manufactured by and how complicated is the install?

Also, a couple of tips:
Pour CLEAN SHOWER through the sun roof drains when changing oil to avoid clogs.

Using a sharp box cutter, carefully carve out the top of the seat heater opening . Just a bit at a time ( doesn't take much ) until the heater stops coming on at each entry/exit. The modification is not noticeable.

Thanks

Nice list to get done. Our seat heater switches always come on also.

I used a Dremel as recommended here and just carved a little out of the top of the switch area...problem solved.

Dremmel and a strategically placed self taping screw does the trick every time for the heated seat switch.

My mom has the exact same hummer, black 08 alpha!

I've got a couple of questions.

1.She's thinking about getting the KOs in 315s over the 285s for clearance.
Any reason you guys went 285?

2. For the drains, did you pull a string w/ a cloth attached through it or blast it w/ compressed air? She has a clogged drain & I've been considering both options.

3. I'm also in for answers about the back up sensor installation.

Looks really good man!

1. She went with 285's because she likes the easier in and out of the truck. If it's my truck, i will definitely go with 315's.

2. I poured warm water with dish washing soap and hit it with compressed air, it drained like SOB. lol!

3. For the back-up sensors, i bought this (make sure to tell them to send you the black sensor).
4 Parking Sensors LED Display Car Backup Reverse Radar System Kit Sound Alert | eBay

1. Test the system function first before installing it.
2. Remove rear bumper.
3. Measure the spacing for each sensor (mine was 19 1/4" from the center of the bumper)
4. Drill 4 holes with the included hole saw.
5. Install 4 sensors (i put hot glue in the back of each sensor).
6. Remove the left tailight housing and run the sensor bundled wires through the rubber grommet.
7. Remove left rear upper and lower trunk side panel and install the module with double sided tape. Location is your choice.
8. Connect the back-up wires from the module to the reverse wire harness from the truck. green (+) and black (-)
9. Install the display on the top of the rearview mirror and run the wire through the headliner and A pillar going down all
the way to the back.
10. Test the system again before putting everything back.

Nice mod review citiboy but I think back up Cams and sensors are a waste of money. Just turn your head and look back.

Stuff breaks over time, especially these days everything is made cheaply in China thanks NAFTA and Clinton!
