Wow I got 128,000 before my front brake pads started making noise. I changed them myself.

 

Now it's warm want to tackle the rear brakes. Any jacking tips other than having to use the stock jack or a high rise jack? Can I jack under the differential with a standard floor jack and some blocks?

Tips from those who have changed the rears....

 

I've lifted the rear with my floor jack and jack stands right on the differential. Should be no problem. Just make sure you are also using jack stands in case of floor jack failure. What kind of blocks are you talking about? You should never use cinder blocks under a vehicle.

 

I trust 6x6 chunks of leftover timbers about 16 inches long. they never slip or crush. you can nail a piece of plywood to hold 2 together for ez stacking. safe..

 

Chalk both sides of the front wheels, jack in the center of the diff housing, Jack stands on both ends. Should be very stable and safe.

Run up to Harbor Freight in Pontiac or Madison Heights for some jack stands if you don't have any. $26 for a pair is some nice safety insurance! They also have aluminum stands that weigh much less.
