Math Problem For You!
Interestingly enough,a mathematical formula wasdeveloped to explain the apparent mystery of the missing dollar. As I understand it, the formula ran the length of a New York City block. You all know it is there, it is just how do you prove it. Interesting path by dmb7280 to turn it into an accounting analysis! Good job all!
I look at it like this, the 3 guys paid $10 each for a total of $30. The real price should have bee $25, which would have been roughly $8.33, a difference of $1.67.The motel realises the mistake and give $5 to the bell hop to return to the guests. He pockets $2, returning only $1 to each of the men. His $2 equal the $0.67 owed to each of the guests if you add it up. 10*3=30, 25/3=roughly 8.33, 5/3= roughly 1.67, 10-8.33=1.67.
