Loud knocking after using starting fluid
Hey guys I had a bad glow plug relay and needing to leave in a hurry the other day so i used some starting fluid ( I guess a little too much) and i started it and it revved up really high and made a big boom now it has a really loud knocking sound in the engine. Any suggestions as to what the promblem is?
You should never use starting fluid on a diesel with glow plugs. You get preignition and can do a lot of damage. You may also want to check for head gasket damage as well. I have seen on several diesel truck forums where people have used it and blown the heads right off their motor. You're lucky if that's all you broke.
Well that was the initial cost... Valve cover gaskets were shot, needed new CDR valve, added TD injectors, injector lines and removal tool, push rod, rocker arm shaft, and glow plug controller. I hope to get the last package today. Ill keep you posted and also my door lock switch lock but wont unlock any of the doors.. Any suggestions?
So call me an idiot or whatever but I put evrything on and the engine was seized -_- Ripped the head off in 20 mins.. (It gets pretty east after taking everything off the d*mn 5+ times) Found out that my vlave was broke off and my head is shot and the piston has a few dents and highspots in it.. Im replacing the head. (found one on eBay for 275) and hoping that i wont have to replace the piston also. Ill post pics/vids up later. So moral of the story is DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID ON A DIESEL
