The 6.2 diesel they put in the Hummer/Humvee was a naturally aspirated motor not a turbo diesel.

Also I read on here a guy wanting to convert to a slant back. How hard would it be to convert to a hardtop 4 door from a soft top, so I could have that little bed area.
Converting to a hard top using factory parts is very expensive. You're looking at 12,000-15,000 just in parts to do the conversion. I know one person who has converted an 2006 soft top to a factory 4 door hard top with the steel roof. The roof assembly was a few grand and you needed a new windshield frame B and C pillars, plus new seals, new upper B pillar covers for the door jambs and a few other trim bits, not including interior pieces.

You can get the California Gold kit which is an aluminum pan roof that fits over the soft top roof, but the proportions is kinda goofy [IMO it adds a high roof line to the truck] and it runs about 3-4,000 for an aluminum shell.

The newer style insulated soft tops are decent in the winter provided your heating system is in good working order The newer style insulated tops were standard option on all soft tops from 1998 and higher.

170 HP 290 ft/#s of torque from the 6.2 NA motor in the civilian models. The military versions don't have all of the emission BS on them.

Default H1 info

I have been away from this thread for a bit. I have read the information, and I did find a 1998 H1 hard top. The price I didnt think was too bad. It has a lot of aftermarket parts on it. I am concerned about the maintenance on any vehicle I would want to buy. My dad taught me on the farm maintenance can save you a lot of money in the long run.

My use for an H1 would mainly be highway driving during the fall, winter, and spring in North Dakota. I have about 160 miles to go to college. I might drive my jeep for that instead for mileage. During the Summer the H1 would be a farm truck. It would be having to drive mainly on paved or gravel roads. I would love to offroad in it, but might have to travel to offroad. The fields and mud would be its greatest advantage over my dad's 2002 chevy pickup. It would also be able to better pull some of our farm trailers.

What are major things to look for, as in maintenance done? The one I am looking at has had the 6.5 TD replaced about 10k ago cause an injector broke off. The truck supposedly has 76k on it for miles. It has CTIS but it has been disabled at the moment due to the rims the guy put on.
