don't be afraid. the worst that could happen is that you would run out of thread.

So I took my Alpha into a 4x4 shop that has been in business for 20+ years, I wanted them to install my trail duty leveling kit and crank the TBs to 23 1/2, they said there is no way they could get it aligned by cranking the TBs, I needed it re-indexed and needed a leveling key. They wanted to charge me $600 for the key, install the shocks and bumpstops, and alignment. Decided I was going to do it myself and have someone do the alignment, went to 3 shops, all of them told me the same thing, that they would not be able to get it aligned with the TBs cranked??????

I took my h3 to Firestone to get their Lifetime Alignment and they actually had to crank my tbars more to get it into spec. I only had it cranked to about 23.5", but they bumped it up to 24", so it could be aligned properly. Any shop that tells you they can't align the truck after the tbars have been cranked is flat out lying or they just plain don't have a clue about the H3 specs.

1st post here. Bought an 08 H3 today and just looking onto all the options. I have always customized all the vehicles I have ever had and this hummer will be no different. Is it safe to crank the TB and leave the stoch shocks on? My first upgrade is going to be wheels and tires and shocks will come shortly there after

It is safe to crank the torsion bars and leave the stock shocks on. The ride quality may suffer a bit but you will be ok. I'd limit the height between 23.5-24 inches however.

if you decide to crank the torsion bar you will need an alignment. i got a quote for both from the dealer today for just under a hundred. have read as low as 80. i think it would be worth it.

Cranked mine, went to Firestone for an alignment. They had the lifetime on sale, so I figured that would be my best bet. I didn't mention I had adjusted the TB's. I wasn't trying to withhold, I just didn't think it would matter. I wasn't satisfied and took it back to try again. I was just talking to the manager and mentioned I'd put a few turns on it. He said if they'd known that, they would have never even tried to align, let alone sell me a lifetime. So, that sounds somewhat in line with what the others are saying. BUT, I think they got it pretty good the second time.

So, I installed the trail duty shocks and bumpstops, cranked the TBs to 23 1/2 myself, and got an alignment, I went with 285 Duratracs, not 315s, it looks great, but the ride is nowhere near as good as it was with just the new tires and shocks. Cranking the TBs has really made the ride quality suffer.

I just sold an 06 2500 ccsb duramax truck that I leveled with torsion keys and a little tork on the TB's. Had 305/50/20's with bilsteins and the ride was OK......big difference between the 2500 and the H3 suspension though--can't imagine torking the H3 TB's could ever make this thing ride like the 2500
