ok so I went to start my hummer today and the key wont turn. I mean this booger won't budge at all. it is not stuck in the ignition. I can take the key out and put it in but it will not turn. I didn't have any problem with it when I got home last night and shut her off. I am at a loss any ideas?

 

pull on the steering wheel both ways a bit. Never happed to me in my h2, but did often in my jeep. Does that if you park w/ your front tires against a curb or parking stop sometimes..

 

This has happened to me with my car. You will most likely need to have the ignition cleaned, might have dust build up. If your Hummer dealer will not do it, (they might want to charge you for a new one) call a locksmith and they will take it out and clean and fix what needs to be replaced all this for more then half of what a dealer will charge. I had a local locksmith do my and I never had another problem with it. Worked like a champ.

You could have a dead battery, or a shorted cell. Check the battery. The PCM controls ignition function so if crooks tamper with the voltage to steal it, the key lock to prevent the wheel from being turned.

 

Make sure the shifter is all the way in the park position...jiggle the wheel back and forth

 

Come to think of it...the same thing happened to me when the battery died.

 

yea, that pisses me off when I'm running the radio for an extended time w/ engine off and the battery gets below a certain voltage, locks the damn key in the ignition in on position.
