Default Help H3 key wont turn car Won't to in gear

Quick question guys, I have a 2006 hummer h3. My battery died earlier I recharged it. Now I have a problem, my key wont turn, and i can't press the button on the shifter to put it in gear. I'm a bit fustrated. I can't go to the dealer any suggestions on how to fix this? I already tried wiggling the steering wheel side to side and disconnected the battery. Any one dealt with this?

Double check to make sure the battery took the charge and recheck you battery connections. Good Luck

I always try the easy stuff first:
bypass the park lock solenoid by doing the following: pop the cover off of the shifter console area. look on the right hand side for a button looking thing. put your parking break on. push the button and shift it into neutral. see if your key will turn then.

you could also check your bcm connection - I have ignition problems and they go away if i wiggle the black connector on the bcm

just my two cents

The easy stuff?

The dude has a dead battery, doesn't get any easier than that.

Hummer H3s have an electronic shift indicator. If it isn't making contact with that sensor in park it drains the battery and it will not let you turn the key at all. If he can get it into neutral and get it charged up it may start.

When I said "easy" I meant "free." Batteries cost money - popping that cover off and putting it into neutral takes 30 seconds.

The reason I'm thinking it's not just a dead battery is because the key won't turn at all. From my limited experience with H3s the key will still turn when the battery is dead - it just won't let you pull the key back out.
