Why can't these JEEP fools realize that their vehicles had more americans killed in, on, or around them due to wars?????????

They are just oblivious to the real fact that that the JEEP started it all.

The HMMWV is made by AM General. The old military "Jeeps" were originally made by *****'s Overland, who was then bought out by AMC. To the best of my understanding, sometime in the 70's AMC broke into AMC and AM General, and AMC was bought by Chrystler. Somewhere around this time, Jeep became its own intety within Chrystler. Now, DyamlirChrystler and GM are apparently in talks and Jeep is potentially up for grabs, if the price is right.
Out of AM General, the military "jeep" was still manufactured, but several changes had been made, and it was then called a M151 "Mutt". The M998 HMMWV replaced the M151 in 1986, and the rest is history.

1964 marked a significant milestone in the company's history when the Kaiser Jeep Corporation purchased the Studebaker Corporation manufacturing facilities on Chippewa Avenue in South Bend, Indiana. Over the next 25 years, the Chippewa facility was to produce nearly 112,000 5-ton and 150,000 21/2-ton trucks for the armed forces of the free world.
In 1967, Kaiser Jeep Corporation formed a special division devoted exclusively to the research, development and production of government vehicles. The Defense and Government Products Division was a direct organizational forerunner of AM General.
In 1970, American Motors Corporation purchased the Kaiser Jeep Corporation from Kaiser Industries.
On April 1, 1971, AM General Corporation was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of the American Motors Corporation and separate from the Jeep Corporation. This move was initiated to give independent status to AM General to fulfill the special transportation requirements of the U.S. Government and pursue further diversification.
Responding to the need for increased mobility in the military, AM General developed and patented the Central Tire Inflation System (CTI) to be used on the M809 and M939 5-ton trucks. The CTI featured driver-activated dashboard controls that altered tire pressure to suit terrain conditions while the vehicle was in motion. The CTI improved vehicle-towing capability and contributed to longer vehicle life and lower life-cycle costs.
In 1979, AM General began preliminary design work on the M998 Series High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV, pronounced Humvee®)
The Humvee is born.

2003 - DaimlerChrysler will not challenge a federal judge's ruling against it over whether the grille of the Hummer H2 was lifted from Jeep
U.S. District Judge Robert L. Miller Jr. ruled on Feb. 25 that, "DaimlerChrysler cannot assert intellectual property rights in the Hummer [the civilian version of the Humvee] because it transferred them all in 1983 [when Chrysler transferred Humvee rights to AM General]. DaimlerChrysler does not own this intellectual property, so it cannot complain about its misappropriation."
As part of the agreement, GM dropped all counterclaims against DaimlerChrysler.

2007 - General Motors is in negotiations with DaimlerChrysler to buy the Chrysler Group in its entirety. The group consists of the Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep brands. High-level talks are underway between DCX and GM executives

2009 will be interesting yes.

I agree with your history lesson. Sorry if I P'd you off, I have owned Jeep products a long time ago. My thing is about the "Jeep" owners and others that show disrespect to a person's freedom of choice that my brothers in arms are fighting for and all of our forefathers have fought for in various areas of the world. The idea of flippin a Hummer owner off just due to current political views is total B-S. It shows something about the "flipper". So basically they are flippin themselves off since they own a decendant of the original too.

Again, sorry if I got under anybody's skin.
That is freedom of choice and speech.

If someone doesn't like my choice of vehicle for one reason or another----TOUGH!!
I guess we'll have to live with not being able to call off work due to ice and snow!!!!!

I own a Hummer and 2 Jeeps and I love all three of them! I use my H3 when I want to offroad or drive in the snow blizards of North Texas in comfort. If you take a look at my photo gallery you will find my '89 Wrangler being tossed around the palo Duro Canyon taking a beating on giant rocks and extreme trails. I bought the H3 because it is, in my mind, a refined version of a Jeep, but I wont beat the hell out of it like i do my Wrangler. Now if I could just get the guys that run the official Jeep Jamborees to let me take my Hummer on the trails..... Now that might **** off a Jeep onwner a bit.
